About Rouge Gorge

Rouge Gorge is a vocabulary-learning app for people studying English. You can save words, review them with spaced-repetition exercises, look up AI-generated definitions and examples, and practise your pronunciation. Your library and learning history are stored only on your device.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reset my learning progress?

Open the app, go to Settings → Reset library. This clears your saved words and review history. The action is irreversible — once cleared, your data cannot be recovered.

I lost my saved words after reinstalling the app. Can you recover them?

Unfortunately no. Rouge Gorge stores your library locally on your device only — we don't have a copy on our servers. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes your data. We recommend keeping the app installed if your library matters to you.

The pronunciation feature isn't working. What do I do?

Pronunciation scoring requires an internet connection and microphone access. Check that:

You're connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data.
Microphone permission is enabled in iOS Settings → Rouge Gorge → Microphone.
You're not in a very noisy environment.

The AI definition I got seems wrong. What should I do?

AI-generated content can occasionally be inaccurate or culturally off-base. Tap the Report button next to any AI output to flag it — this helps us improve the service. For academic or professional use, always cross-check with an authoritative dictionary.

Does Rouge Gorge work offline?

Yes, partially. Reviewing your saved words and doing spaced-repetition exercises works offline. Looking up new definitions and pronunciation scoring require an internet connection, since they call AI services.

How do I delete my data?

Since Rouge Gorge stores everything locally on your device, simply uninstalling the app deletes all your data permanently. We don't keep any account or learning history on our servers.

Is Rouge Gorge free?

Yes, Rouge Gorge is currently free to use. If we introduce paid features in the future, we'll announce it in advance and existing content you've saved will not be affected.

I'm under 13 — can I use the app?

No. Rouge Gorge is intended for users aged 13 and over. Onboarding includes a single 13+ self-confirmation toggle; no date of birth is collected.

I have a complaint or a dispute. What are my options?

Please first contact us at contact@rougegorge.app so we can try to resolve the issue. If we can't reach an agreement and you are a consumer, you may refer the matter free of charge to the French consumer mediator CNPM — Médiation de la consommation or use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.

We genuinely read every message. When reporting a bug, please include:

Your iOS version (Settings → General → About)
Your device model
A short description of what you were doing when the issue occurred
A screenshot if possible
